After looking at a few of the paintings by the painter Piet Mondrian, students will be learning about line, space and balance. They will then get the opportunity to create their own Mondrian paintings by creating their own unique compositions.

Students will use their problem solving skills and creativity to produce a composition with limited supplies/materials. Ideally students will be able to use their understanding of these key terms through the creation of an artistically similar piece.

Objectives:

• Students will create their own Mondrian Painting Composition
• Create a painting using primary or secondary colors, helping learn the color wheel principals
• Using mixed media, they will cut paper and use watercolor paint

• Strips of black paper
• 8 x 11 White paper

• Glue stick
