Second Amendment
On June 23, 2022, the US Supreme Court ruled against a New York century-old law that prohibited the carrying of guns unless a person had ‘proper cause’. The NYSRPA v. Bruen decision holds that the “Second Amendment protects the right to carry a loaded handgun in public for self-defense”. The second amendment guarantees, “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” Is this right limited? Should restrictions be placed on the types of weapons and ammunition that people can access? Y supports the second amendment and Z party calls for restrictions. Write a 1 ½-2 page argument supporting your position.
