Data Privacy: In President Trump’s first term as President, he called for a ban on TikTok citing concerns of data collection by China. A bipartisan law called “Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act” makes it unlawful for companies in the US to “provide services to distribute, maintain or update the social media app TikTok” unless it is purchased by a US owner. The law went into effect on January 19; however, President Trump signed an executive order extending the deadline to get a US owner by 75 days. On January 29th, a Chinese company created a low-cost, low energy consuming AI chatbot that challenges ChatGPT and poses concerns for data safety. Several countries have already banned this new app called Deep Seek. As a candidate, describe your policy regarding the use of foreign apps, like TikTok and DeepSeek. The Y party feels that foreign apps do not pose a security risk the Z party believes that they pose a risk. Write your position in a 1 ½ - 2 page paper.
