Members are taught judo techniques from the Judo New Zealand grading syllabus. Attaining each grade is based on capability and competency to execute judo techniques from the syllabus.
All grades are registered with Judo New Zealand and are recognised nationally and internationally by all International Judo Federation member clubs.

Grading levels and general time frames for each grade are as follows -

Judo terms, Ukemi, Kumi Kata, Shisei, Shintai, Kuzushi, Tsukuri, Tai Sabaki, Kake, Uchi Komi, Nage Waza, Osae Waza
Minimum 2 months registered as a White Belt (6th Kyu)

Recommended 3 months registered as a Yellow Belt (5th Kyu)

Recommended 6 months registered as an Orange Belt (4th Kyu)

Recommended 6 months registered as a Green Belt (3rd Kyu)
