Course Overview

Business employers value employees who are able to communicate effectively both verbally and using electronic communication methods.

BTEC Business Extended Certificate provides opportunities for you to develop your communication skills as you progress through the course. This can be both through presentations and discussions in which they have the opportunity to express their opinions.

assessment methods

You will sit two written examinations in Year 12 and have the option to re-sit these to gain a higher grade if needed in year 13. In Year 13 you will complete two internally assessed portfolio's. All four units are given grade points and these are added together to form an overall grade at the end of the course.

business finance & MARKETING

Learn about personal and business finance and develop a marketing campaign as you prepare for the external exams for unit 3: Personal and Business Finance and Unit 2: Developing a Marketing Campaign. 


exploring business & Recruitment 

Year 13 units are both internal coursework units, starting with Unit 1: Investigating Business where we study the purposes of different businesses, their structure, the effect of the external environment, and how they need to be dynamic and innovative to survive. Unit 8 follows where we explore how the recruitment process is carried out in a business.
