Course Overview
A-level Physical Education allow students to play to their strengths and gain dynamic theoretical and practical skills for further education or work. They'll be familiar with some of the content from GCSE, yet they will study it in more depth, acquiring new knowledge along the way.

Target Audience
An interest in the theoretical aspects of Physical Education and Sports Science is essential as the A-Level is majority theory based. To have studied GCSE PE is highly recommended. Students must be participating in competitive sport outside of school.
Year 12 Units
Sport Psychology
In this section students will develop knowledge and understanding of the role of sport psychology in optimising performance in physical activity and sport.
Sport, Society & Technology
In this section students will develop knowledge and understanding of the interaction between, and the evolution of, sport and society.
Year 13 Units
Anatomy & physiology
In this section students will develop knowledge and understanding of the changes within the body systems prior to exercise, during exercise of differing intensities and during recovery.
BIOMECHANICS
In this section students will develop knowledge and understanding of motion and forces, and their relevance to performance in physical activity and sport.

Student Destinations
Around half of our students go onto study a sport based course at university. We have also had a number of successful athletes go onto compete at a high level in their chosen sport.
