For quarter 4's major project, 9th grade will be doing a "Skinny Research Paper." A skinny research paper is basically doing everything but full-on writing the paper. We will be crafting extensive outlines, forming citations and bibliographies, and doing research and note taking. This paper will be a Test grade at the end of the quarter.
Over the next two weeks, you will mostly be doing research and practice drafting. It should look like follows:
Wednesday, March 18th, 1:14 pm Live classroom: Check in and going over all the assignments coming up. Fill out the Google form on your topic choice by 3pm TODAY.
--Assignment: Read and review Grammar book pgs. 163-167. Answer the review questions posted on Google Classroom. Due by Thursday, March 18th at 1:00 pm.
Thursday, March 18th, 1:14 pm Live classroom: How to do research and create citations.
--Assignment: Create a google doc for your citations. As you research your topic, create citations from the links or your sources and copy and past them to the doc. Make sure every source has the original link and title, plus your citation. Cite anything you read for your topic, even if you might not use it. Share this document with me by Monday, March 23rd at 1:00 pm. You will need to continue using this doc as we craft our papers, but by Monday I need to see at least three sources on this doc as evidence you have researched. You do not have outside reading this quarter, so the research is counting towards that. The citation page will be considered a paper grade when completed.
Due by Monday, March 23rd at 1:00 pm.
Friday, March 20th, 1:14 pm Live classroom: Practice creating 3 point essays. This will be done during the live and will be due in the google classroom by 3pm. This is a homework grade.
Monday, March 23rd, 1:14pm Live classroom: Fact checking and citing sources correctly. Review of what qualifies as plagiarism. Due: A shared version of your citations page so far by 1:00 pm.
Tuesday, March 24th, NO LIVE: Independent work on research. Keep adding to your citations page.
--Assignment: Copy out your recitation of choice by hand. Take a picture and submit it via google classroom.

Make a copy of it and turn in the copy via Google Classroom. Keep you original so that you can continue to add to it. Title it: "Fuller Outline Part 1 - 'Your Name.'"
Due Monday, March 30th, 1:00 pm: "Fuller Outline Part 1."
Friday, March 27th, 1:14 pm Live Classroom: Q&A Day. We will touch base regarding any further schooling. Discuss how papers are going, recitation choices, etc. This will probably be a shorter session.
--Assignment: Continue to work on research. Remember your "Fuller Outline" is due Monday.
Ironically, I picked these topics back in December without any idea we would be personally testing out some of these methods! I was homeschooled for a few years, but did not use online schooling, so if you have any questions about personal experience, I'd be happy to share!
Below are listed different types of schooling that you can choose for your research topic. Those listed are the ONLY ones available.
Homeschooling
