The new pathway focuses on three components: credits, competency, and readiness. The requirements for each component are listed below.
CREDITS: Students must earn 21 credits. Please refer to the High School Credit and Class Placement page for a complete list of required credits.
COMPETENCY: Students must attain a competency score of 684 on both their Algebra and ELA II End of Course exam.
READINESS: Students must earn two diploma seals from the following list:
Science Seal
Citizenship Seal
Technology Seal
Seal of Biliteracy
Ohio Means Jobs Readiness Seal
College Ready Seal
Honors Diploma Seal
Military Enlistment Seal
Industry Recognized Credential Seal
Student Engagement Seal*
Fine and Performing Arts Seal*
Community Service Seal*
*These are local seals and the requirements are set by Northmont. Students must earn at least ONE of the state developed seals for graduation.

ALTERNATIVES TO COMPETENCY: If a student cannot earn the 684 competency score on Algebra and/or ELAII, the state has set alternative ways to demonstrate competency.
Option 1: Students can demonstrate two career focused activities
Foundational Activities (must do at least one of these)
Proficient scores on WebXams
Earn a 12 point Industry Recognized Credential
Complete a pre-apprenticeship OR have documented acceptance to an apprenticeship program
Supporting Activities (can be one of the activities)
Work Based Learning
Earn required score on WorkKeys exam (score pending)
Attain the Ohio Means Jobs Readiness Seal
Option 2: Enlist in the military
Students must provide evidence that they have signed a contract to enter a branch of the U.S. armed services upon graduation.
Option 3: Complete College Coursework
Earn credit for one college-level math and/ or college-level English course through Ohio’s free College Credit Plus program.
