On 09/09/2024 1:21 PM a fire erupted near Riverside. This fire grew to 23,526 acres before being contained. It was burning for 26 days before they finally put it out and was likely caused by heavy machinery in the area, and because of the fact that the area is very dry and hot. A single spark likely caused the 23,526 acre fire.
Many residents and people near the fire were affected by it. In one account from a resident of a town near the fire they recall that they had evacuated from the fire and brang their dog; they came back to rubble and a lost cat. 22 people were injured in the fire and 160 structures were destroyed from it.
About 10 Helicopters and 134 engines were used to take control of the fire, 771 personnel were involved in taking the fire down. Many were injured, and 8 firefighters were injured. The fire eventually ended on 09/10/2024.
