Activist Codes

Activist Codes are used to categorize contact records. It is worth noting that not everyone with an Activist Code is necessarily an activist in the traditional sense. Rather, Activist Codes are used to group contact records according to things like issues they care about and ways in which they engage with an organization or campaign.

Once an Activist Code has been applied to a contact record, that Activist Code can be used to find this individual and any other records who have been marked with the same code.

Depending on the permissions assigned to User Profiles, Users can create, apply and search based on Activist Codes.

Below are instructions on creating, applying and searching on Activist Codes.

Creating an Activist Code

1) Select Activist Codes from the left side panel

2) Select Add New Activist Code

3) Fill out the information and select Save

  • Type: The "type" property is used for the purposes of sorting and viewing Activist Codes in a list; this is particularly helpful when the number of Activist Codes becomes large and otherwise unwieldy.
  • Script Question: When creating a Script for a Virtual Phone Bank or canvass, users can add Activist Codes; this question will appear by default on the Script when the Activist Code is added there.
  • Is Also Activist: "Is Also Activist" is used to group all Activist Codes that imply activism in the traditional sense, so that any record that has this Activist Code applied should be generally considered a political activist.
  • Can be assigned or removed: This allows Users to assign or remove the Activist Code from a contact record.
  • District Roles: (only applicable in My Voter databases) Default is none. When used, associates the Activist Code with a specific type of district. For example, it could be used to identify elected officials, candidates or district level volunteers. Initially, the home district is assigned; a link is provided to change to a different district.
  • Can be assigned multiple times: Multiple-assignment is used in conjunction with the District Roles option, it enables assignment of multiple unique districts. For instance, this could be used to specify each of the districts a volunteer or staffer is responsible for.
