Ad-Free Youtube

Sharing YouTube videos can be cumbersome when all the ads popping up in and around the frame become a distraction for students. Try this secret hack to remove those pesky ads from your YouTube video page: Insert “ _popup” after the word “watch” in YouTube URL. When students open the link, ads are gone and only the video player is visible on screen!

Minimalist Youtube (No Ads and Automatic Full Screen)

I shared with you how to skip ads before and said to insert “ _popup” after the word “watch” in YouTube URL. But I think what I discovered recently is easier to remember and a better version of the previous hack. By doing this newer hack, you'll have no ads, no side suggestion videos, and automatic full screen when playing a video.

All you have to do is insert a "-" (hyphen) next to the "t" in Youtube URL.

So easy!

Youtube Video Multitasking "Picture-In-Picture" Mode

Do you ever want to watch a video, but you also want or need to work on something else at the same time? Maybe you wish you had Picture-In-Picture mode not just on your phone, but also on your laptop? Or maybe you have no idea what I am talking about; if you don't, this is where you get a miniature version of the video so you can simultaneously go outside of the video application and do something else without losing the video. Below is an example of what some of you may already do on your phone:

But did you know that with two right clicks of your mouse, you can also have a Youtube video appear as a tiny window of your browser to allow you to move to different corners of the screen and access different websites simultaneously?

Share Parts of a YouTube Video on a Slideshow

You can share a clip of a video on a Google Slideshow.

Go to Insert -> Video and then put in the URL for your YouTube Video.

Once it is added, on the right hand side of your screen, under Video Playback, you can put in times for the video to start and end.

You can actually click on specific points in the video above this section and then click “Use Current Time” under the Start and End sections to make this easier.

Share a YouTube Video at a Precise Point

Click the Share button below the video. Look for a checkbox below the link. It will automatically display the time at which you currently have the video stopped.

You can stick with this time or choose a different time. Copy the link and share it on your preferred social media or email it to a friend. When someone views the link, the YouTube video will automatically skip right to the point you chose.

Instantly Mute a Youtube Video/Restart a Youtube Video

  • Easily mute or unmute a YouTube video (perhaps to skip over a pesky advertisement) by pressing M on your keyboard.

  • Press the zero key, 0, on your keyboard to instantly restart a video on YouTube.
