New ELA Teacher Training

Early literacy online course

In order to best prepare you to teach early literacy, you will need an introduction to the shared reading, running records, interactive writing, and phonics instruction. All new to NISD teachers teaching grades K-2 will need to complete this course by Sept 9th.

Teachers can register for the course by going to http://moodle.nisdtx.org/course/view.php?id=12326 and using enrollment key “reading2019”.

DRA2 Testing Online Training

In NISD we use the Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA2). This course is a required training for K-5 teachers new to NISD that will be teaching ELA and should be completed before BOY testing. By completing this course, you will become familiar with tools in the kit, learn how to administer the assessment, and be able to use the information to drive your instruction. This a digital course located at https://moodle.nisdtx.org/course/view.php?id=13965 and the enrollment key is “reading2019”.

New Teacher Academy

During the school year you will be offered the opportunity to participate in New Teacher Academy where you will visit other mentor teachers' classrooms, participate in Megalabs, and have additional time to plan for instruction. These dates will be communicated through the curriculum department or campus administration.
