Working in Northwest ISD has provided me with opportunities to grow as an educator, leader, communicator, creator, designer, and problem-solver. Before becoming an Instructional Technologist, I was a classroom teacher -- dedicated to creating dynamic learning experiences for my students that encouraged them to communicate and collaborate with one another. I taught them to think critically and demonstrate their learning through creating, rather than simply consuming. Technology was inherent to this process in my classroom, and I consistently worked to support my students' creativity by researching and learning about new tools.
As an instructional technologist, I am passionate about working with other educators to successfully integrate technology, which when done strategically and with fidelity, increases learning, engagement, and self-efficacy. By working backward from a specific instructional goal and relying on research-based approaches to lesson design, we can create meaningful opportunities for students to own their learning and feel proud of their growth and accomplishments.
I feel privileged to work with teachers and students each day. Our team supports campus and district goals in a variety of ways including creating resources, coaching educators, designing and facilitating professional development, administrating our learning management system (Moodle), designing and growing the Digital Citizenship curriculum, creating innovative and cross-curricular opportunities for learning, hosting our district-wide student showcase (EXPO), and more.
