Videos across the site are hosted by a third-party website, youtube.com. On the majority of content we provide alternative ways to engage. Please find below the exact error caused that cannot be fixed due to this being a third-party service:
The videos are shown in the element lists and are read out as content by screen readers. However the controls for the video player do not display in the form field element list. These controls are hidden on the video until a user accesses the video, as they are part of the functionality of the YouTube player. Therefore, we cannot amend the accessibility of video controls. 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value of WCAG 2.1.
In January 2024, The Shaw Trust conducted an audit of the Find, Recruit and Follow-up website, from which common accessibility issues across the website were identified.
The website was evaluated against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) V2.1 up to conformance level AA. Automated evaluation tools and manual testing by an experienced in-house pan-disabled testing team were utilised to complete a comprehensive accessibility audit.
