Increase the amount of social care research
Project Summary

The overarching aim of the project is to increase the amount of Social Care Research in the West Midlands (WM). The initial scope of this project included four main objectives:
Develop an action plan with partners that will result in an increase of social care research developed in the WM
Ensure social care research can be operationalised with clear processes for accessing support, mapping recruitment etc.
Identify and implement a research career pathway within social care
Work with social care partners to understand the research culture and baseline, and coproduce and support implementation of a plan for embedding a culture for research.

I am one of the Research Delivery Managers for the Clinical Research Network West Midlands (CRN WM). I became involved in the facilitation of the Progression Plan Project: ‘Increase the amount of social care research’ as I have oversight of the Social Care, Public Health and Community Settings workstream for CRN WM. I also represent the CRN WM at the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) CRN National Social Care Specialty Group.
