Complete the following steps to gain access to both self-service analysers and core-operated services in our Advanced Cytometry Platform. If you are an external user (no KCL account) email us instead.
Read and agree to our conditions
Register with us by completing our form (and included induction presentation).
Sign up with iLab, our calendar provider.
Complete any mandatory instrument training.
Obtain an ID card if required (for unaided access to floor/ labs).
Complete a floor visit (included in training).
First read our conditions of use.
Register with us:
Complete our online registration form, including the induction presentation to be downloaded in the first section of the form. You'll need to accept the above conditions, biosafety requirements and provide billing details. If you can't open that form, see troubleshooting below. Submit a new form if you change labs, or project (e.g. updating biosafety information).
Register with our iLab booking system.
We use iLab software from Agilent for scheduling, service requests and billing. You need an iLab account to view calendars, book or cancel.
Before you sign up, it is of the utmost importance that you understand why you must select the correct lab (group/PI) before clicking Register !
Here is our unique iLab signup link. Please see instructions on that page - it may take up to 24 hours for your account to become active.
YOU MUST contact iLab (i.e. Agilent) if you change lab affiliation.
For support with iLab, billing etc, see our iLab info page.
Complete mandatory training, if required.
To use our self-service flow cytometers you must complete our mandatory Basic Training. Typically, you will need Basic Training (which includes CytoFLEX and an optional, free top-up for Fortessa), first before instrument-specific training (e.g. ImageStream, Aurora).
For customers wishing to access staff-operated services only (cell sorting, Mass Cytometry, and Parsortix), there is no training.
For Basic Training: once your iLab account is active submit a training request in iLab (also found via the tab Request Services, form 5.1 Basic training). Places are limited and we must receive all requests by the end of the week before training (dates here). You will not receive any acknowledgement for this training request. For successful applicants we will send out further details at the start of the week in which training takes place.
ID cards
KCL and GSTT staff – to access the 10th Floor facilities without assistance (e.g. out-of-hours) you require a GSTT (not King’s College London) ID card. You can apply for that card when you register (if you have issues we will help you at training). Access to the core will be authorised (applied to the card) only after you:
have completed the previous steps
have your Trust ID card from GSTT security
have had a floor visit.
Once you collect your card, you contact us to authorise it (access is not included automatically on the card). Carefully follow the instructions in your induction documents on how to obtain the card.
Complete the floor induction.
This requires a visit (included in Basic Training) and covers essential health & safety. If your usage does not require Basic Training (typically services only, or Luminex), email BRCFlowcore@gstt.nhs.uk to book a visit.
Contact us on BRCFlowCore@gstt.nhs.uk if you have any questions. We look forward to working with you!
If you are an external customer you cannot obtain card access.
You will only be able to use core services during core business hours (Monday-Friday 09:00-17:00). Some equipment and services are restricted to internal users only due to high demand. Please email us to discuss your requirements before attempting to register.
You need to be logged in with a KCL account to access our Flow Core registration form and download the induction pack.
If you have any issues, check:
Are you logged in on that browser with the correct Microsoft (Outlook/ OneDrive) account (KCL, not personal, GSTT etc)?
If so and still having problems you may need to:
try again
refresh the page
close and reopen the browser
use a different browser
Contact KCL IT support
If you have no KCL account yet, get that set up first.
If you know you will require training, you can always give us advance notice before registering.
