The Advanced Flow Cytometry Platform offers users the Cytek "Aurora" spectral flow cytometer, a next generation high end cell analyser with "full spectral" capabilities.
Utilising full spectrum analysis allows users to:
Build much larger fluorescent panels
Perform deep phenotyping for biomarker discovery, combining traditional and novel dyes
Use dye combinations that were not previously possible
Not be limited by the number of detectors in the system
Build auto-fluorescence as a parameter into assays or subtract it
Analyse small particles
Our Cytek Aurora is the top-end 5 laser version, and runs SpectroFlo 3.1 software
5 laser, 64 channel (not detectors) instrument
355 nm (UV), 405 nm (violet), 488nm (blue), 561nm (yellow-green), 633 nm (red).
This instrument also features the plate loader option.
The analysers are available self-service only, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for use by investigators except during weekly maintenance and repair periods.
You can book on the Equipment pages of our iLab calendar.
Before an investigator can book and use the equipment, they must initially register with the Flow Core and attend mandatory Basic Training as a prerequisite.
Users are then eligible to book (and must attend) the more advanced Aurora training, which also covers aspects of panel design unique to this technology, and aspects of working with high dimensional data that the system produces. This training is held less frequently, please check our training dates.
