Local Principal Investigator Toolkit

The role of the Local Principal Investigator is to mentor, support and guide the Associate PI Trainee during their 6-month tenure on the scheme. This role is vitally important and we thank you for supporting this Scheme to make it a success.

For a lot of Associate PIs, this will be their first experience of delivering research so you need to mentor them on what is involved in delivering a study at a site. You need to pass on your knowledge and experience of leading on a study at a site so they understand the practicalities and challenges involved.

For our Local Principal Investigators, we have created some guidance documents that we hope will support you with mentoring your Associate PI, and also some promotional materials that you can use to encourage healthcare professionals at your site to take part in the Associate PI Scheme.

We highly recommend that you read all of the guidance documents and utilise the promotional materials.
