Would you like the opportunity to work and learn at the same time? If so, an apprenticeships may be for you.
Apprenticeships offer you the opportunity to work, earn money and study at the same time. However, not all apprenticeships are the same.
Apprenticeships come in four different levels. As GCSEs are the equivalent of an Intermediate apprenticeship (level 2), you should be looking at Advanced level apprenticeships (level 3) or above.
When it comes to pay, the current minimum wage for an apprentice under the age of 19 is £4.15 per hour. You could be paid more, but remember you are doing an apprenticeship to learn new skills, not because you will be paid a lot.
All apprenticeships are advertised on the government website and you can find them by following the link below:
You apply for an apprenticeship the same way as you apply for a job. If you don't have Maths or English GCSE this may prevent you from getting an apprenticeship. Alternatively you will be required to continue studying Maths or English at college alongside your apprenticeship qualifications.
