Brightspace Questions?
For the past year, we provided an option in courses for faculty to include an Instructor Profile Widget, which provides students a quick way to see an instructor's name, profile picture and contact information. We received some great feedback and feature suggestions for the widget.
To set the information in your Instructor Profile, click on your name in the top right corner of Brightspace and choose 'Profile'. Enter whatever information you would like, and the information will automatically appear in the widget.
The widget is flexible and scalable. Share as much or as little information as you prefer. We do encourage you to at least add your profile picture and email address though!
Our team built this in-house, so if you have any ideas or suggestions for improvement, please reach out to us. We have already implemented several of your feature requests!
We are excited to have two DIID team members on the NEW MyCampus implementation team. NEW MyCampus is powered by a platform called Pathify and will be your one-stop-shop for launching into the tools and resources you access at NICC, and also will be a great place to collaborate and keep up on all things NICC. This includes the News Hub and a centralized NICC Events calendar, which are also transitioning to NEW MyCampus.
NEW MyCampus is going live during the week of January 5. Keep an eye on the current News Hub for more information, live demonstrations, and screenshots. The DIID team is looking at le
We are beta testing this functionality and would love to have you try it out. Your feedback is needed! Reach out to us for more information on how you can be involved in the beta test.
Watch this video if you need a refresher on how to connect your CLO rubric to an assessment in each of your courses.
You can link the CLO rubric to an assignment, discussion, or grade item. The grade item option offers great flexibility and we can even copy a grade item in for you, by request!
As of October 1st, faculty, deans, and DIID staff must request course sharing through our new Etrieve form. Regardless of who initiates the request, the form will be routed to the original content developer for approval. Check out the form here, and bookmark the link for easy access in the future.
Release conditions can take your course to a whole new level! Speaking of levels, they are a great way to introduce gamification into your courses. Award students for their progress in the course or help out students that may be falling behind. Choose your adventure!

Grading workflows are now optimized in the quiz evaluation experience to improve instructor productivity.
Instructors can click the down arrow on the top right of the quiz grading page to expand the dialog used to turn on or turn off the new quiz evaluation experience. This feature is currently opt-in, and will become the default for all sometime in 2025.
You can now attach a rubric to a written resposne question inside of a quiz. This is a great option to evaluate your students since you cannot attach a rubric to an entire quiz in Brightspace. Note, you must use the New Quiz Evaluation Experience (above) to use this feature.
