NCG

NCG Monthly Meeting & In-Person Event Session

Come and join us for the next NCG meeting which will take place on the 7th February at 08:30am at school and online

After the monthly meeting please join the NCG to hear in-depth about upcoming projects for the rest of the year.

If you would like to participate, please let us know through this link below by Monday,  6th February.

Community and Communications

NCG is working to reduce and streamline the communications over the coming weeks. With an increasing number of events and activities the team are aware its becoming too much to send multiple weekly messages via what’s app and other platforms. The aim is to keep everyone informed without the spam.

Stage 1 is to setup the NCG Community on What’s App - once someone joins the community they have visibility and can join of all the different groups / events running across the NCG (with new events and groups being added throughout the year).

We can then issue a short notice of what’s been added to the community and people can join for more information and to get involved

Current Groups:

NCG Walking Group

Country Groups

Book Week

Knowledge & Language Exchange

Stage 2 is to setup a website where all the activities will be listed with clickable links for more information and to join.

Please click the link to join the community and see all the exciting things we have planned!

NCG Committee

We would like to take the opportunity to share more about members of the team, each newsletter one committee member will share their story. This week we’d like to introduce Rachel our NCG Treasurer.

Hello, I’m Rach (Rachel) and I am on the NCG committee as Treasurer!

I am originally from Gloucestershire in the UK where I worked for many years in Finance, Training & Compliance.

At age 32, young, free and single, the desire to travel and see the world made me take a leap of faith and I took a job offer to live and work in Malaysia. This then led me to working in Bangkok where I lived the dream and got to travel to some amazing countries!

I met my husband Kev in 2006 in Bangkok and that's where we started our life together, getting married and having our two children, Callum (y8) & Darci (y7).  In December 2018 after many beautiful years in Thailand we moved here to Singapore with Kev’s job and we joined the Nexus Community! We live on the East Coast and we love it!

We, as a family have been fortunate to meet so many amazing people and seeing them happy makes me happy.  I love to walk and am looking forward to our new NCG walking group getting off the ground!  Singapore may be small but it's like a tardis with so many places to see and explore.

In addition to walking, I love taking photos, playing a friendly game of mahjong, catching up with friends and spending time with my family doing the things we love. Meeting new people, helping people and making new friends makes me happy.  Life is busy and hectic but I wouldn't have it any other way!

I have been away from the UK a long time now, have been through many adventures and am sure there will be more to come.  A friend wrote this in my leaving card back in 2005 and I keep the words in my mind every day:

Life is like a Camera;

Focus on what's important,

Capture the good times

Develop from the negatives

And if things don't work out,,,

Take another shot

Our NCG committee is new but already we have achieved so much and I am looking forward to helping grow the Nexus Community with you all!
