Dear Parents and Guardians
I hope you have had a good week. It has been fantastic to hear our learners talk about their trips last week. It is clear that their experiences both challenged them and rewarded them. There were examples of great camaraderie and team work as well as examples of care for others and the world. Please check out the trip photos and reviews (written by our learners) in the 'celebrating our learners' section found under the 'more' tab. The Education Outside The Classroom (EOTC) team would also love some feedback our parents about the trip. Please take 10 minutes to fill in the trip feedback form. As Mr Lachlan shares, to better ourselves we have to constantly review and renew what we do and these trips have definitely provided learners with an opportunity to do this. We have also had successes in cross country, volleyball and swimming where learners showed they are able to review what they do and grow from feedback to perform well. Well done to all our athletes who continue to perform whilst retaining that all important team spirit and sportsperson quality that Nexus is known for.
This has been a week of feedback. As a private education institute we undertake EduTrust certification. This is a quality assurance scheme which distinguishes private schools that consistently maintain a high standard of quality in the overall provision of education services and make continual improvements that lead to positive student outcomes. This week has seen assessors from the skills future government agency working with us to look at all aspects of school life. Whilst we await the final written outcome it was wonderful to hear how they felt our academic processes and learner assessment were strong with robust course design and delivery and excellent graduate outcomes.
Talking of feedback I hope you have all been able to use Canvas as a window into the classroom to see how your child has been doing throughout this term. I also hope you have been able to book appointments with your child's teachers for our Learning Conferences next week . Please ensure your child attends with you be it face to face or online as there is nothing more powerful and effective as learners owning their own progress and knowing what they must do to improve. Please do read on to our Important Notices section and beyond to find out what has happened and yet to come. You can read the rest of the newsletter by using the three bars at the top left.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend
Best wishes

On Saturday 17th of September 2022, Nexus swim team took part in their first short course swim meet of the year. Hosted by, and held at, United World College Dover Campus, the meet brought in 9 international schools from across Singapore, and over 535 swimmers. The Nexus team comprised a total of 45 swimmers from across the school and both Junior and Senior performance squads. Dressed in Nexus swim caps and team uniforms, we were welcomed by the hosts at 7am. This meet turned out to be the best overall performance by a Nexus Swim Team in this type of event, with us winning all relays bar one. An achievement never seen before. Our Senior performance squad took 1st place in the Freestyle and Medley relay events and our Juniors 12 and under team clinched 1st place for both Freestyle and Medley relay events as well. We emerged as the best performing team with the most medal count overall, including 25 gold, 14 silver and 10 bronze medals.
Congratulations to all swimmers that took part for fantastic performances, and the coaches for their hard work leading up to the event and during the meet.
