NEXUS Music department is excited to be launching a collaboration with SONGWORK International.

Do you like to sing? Ever considered writing your own music? Want to know how to launch your own album?

This October break, 19-22 October Roo Pigott and Richard Huxley music producers from the UK and LA who have worked alongside artists such as Ed Sheeran, Arctic Monkeys and Snow Patrol will be running singer/song writer workshops in the NEXUS Music department. This will be an opportunity to learn what makes a hit song, how to write lyrics, work on compositions, learn technical tips and tricks plus learn how to launch your own music in the industry.

Following the success of Mary Poppins it has been amazing to see so many Secondary learners auditioning over the past 2 weeks for parts in 'Bugsy Malone'. Learners have had to prepare short exert from the script as well as deliver a song. It is exciting to see so many more learners wanting to be involved and demonstrating confidence and enthusiasm whilst being a risk taker and remaining open minded to new experiences all are which are the qualities displayed in the Learner Profile.

The Secondary school are very excited to bring to your the NEXUS production of 'Bugsy Malone' in term 3. Cast lists will be published soon and rehearsals will begin shortly.

Pre-covid our Secondary music ensembles were a highlight of the school year. Many of you will remember the concert themes of 'Summer Nights', 'Spooktacular' and 'Fly me to the moon'. We are very pleased to once again be bringing our secondary ensembles back to the stage in what promises to be a 'Poptastic' evening featuring the Chamber Choir, Secondary Choir, Secondary Orchestra, Guitar Ensemble, Chamber Strings and the Pop/Jazz Group.

The learners have been busy rehearsing since the start of term and have been having lots of fun learning songs such as Coldplay Classics, some Michael Jackson , Jason Maraz and more. Fix the date in your diary and join us for a wonderful evening of toe tapping that will leave you wanting to start dancing in the aisles of the NEXUS Auditorium!
