We currently offer paid Mother Tongue provision in the following languages:
We are looking to recruit teachers to teach a weekly class in the following languages: Arabic (2nd language), German, Hindi, and Korean. If you have not already expressed your initial interest for your son or daughter to take part, please contact mothertongue@nexus.edu.sg. We will contact those families of learners that we know use these languages at home if we are able to form a group. If you or any friends or colleagues are suitably experienced or qualified to teach this language to primary learners, we encourage you or them to contact hr@nexus.edu.sg
Interest has also been expressed in Italian and Hindi and we will be contacting families individually to see if there is a sufficient level of interest to start classes in these languages. Alternatively, please let us know by emailing mothertongue@nexus.edu.sg if you would like your children to included in any of these classes.
As many of you will be already aware, there has been a significant increase in the levels of Influenza across the Asia region, and Singapore Ministry of Health has reported an increase of Acute Upper Respiratory Diseases, including Influenza, compared to the same period last year. In certain parts of Singapore this has led to class or school closures. Within the Nexus school community, we have been notified of individual cases of both Influenza A and B strains which are highly infectious and can be debilitating.
The health of our learners and staff is of paramount importance to us; we continue to implement our robust infection control measures within school and remain vigilant in our early recognition and isolation of children who are sick.
In order to further reduce the spread of infections and to keep all children healthy, we ask that if your child is showing even mild signs of sickness that they remain at home until fully recovered. If we all follow these simple measures we will be able to ensure classes remain open and our community as a whole remains healthy.
On Wednesday this week at Nexus it was 'Bug Busting Day!' Across the school, banners and posters were displayed to highlight the essentials of the weekly Bug Busting routine for the detection of head lice. The weekly routine of checking hair for head lice is best done at home.
