From the Head of Primary

Dear all.

What a wonderful two weeks we've had in Primary School.

Last week it was a real pleasure for my teachers and I to welcome all of you to school to share with your children their learning journey at the Learning Conferences. My thanks to you all for coming along and being part of this very powerful experience for your children; talking about what you learn and how you learn is a key part of becoming a life-long learner.

At the same time the Art Team presented all the learners creative visal arts pieces in our Art Splash Exhibition. The work the children have produced was stunning and the collaborative piece was very impressive at the end of the three days.

This week we have been looking forwrad to the Lunar New Year. To start, our Year 6 children performed their version of the 'Voyages of Cheng Ho', the famous 14th Century Chinese Explorer. With a script totally written by the learners and musical pieces and dances choreographed by them and all props and scenery created by them, it was a fantastic show! Performed four times for learners and for families. My thanks to all the staff and parents involved in supporting the children through this production.

This was followed by a wide variety of cultural activities and performances to celebrate the Lunar New Year, including a traditional Chinese fan dance performed by our Chinese mothers. Many thanks to our wonderful parents for bringing together our community to share some of their culutre and traditions. Our Year 5 learners also joined the Bouncing Beans Playgroup to help the pre-school children make New Year arts and crafts. (Click here for further details of the Playgroup.)

Numerous photos of these events are available to view under 'Recent Events' and on our Instagram and Facebook pages.

Please also take time to view the 'Upcoming Events' for details of our Sports Days (week beginning Monday, 26 February) and our Book Week staring on Monday, 12 March and culminating on Friday, 16 March a dress up day - start getting creative and making your costumes!

In closing I wish you a lovely holiday (school will reopen on Monday, 19 February) and to all of families celebrating the Lunar New Year a special time together and a year ahead that is full of happiness.

祝大家一起度过农历新年这个特别的时光,也祝愿大家在新的一年里开心满满。

With best regards,

Paul.
