Many talented young musicians at Nexus brought their parents to their music classrooms to demonstrate what they have learned. Furthermore, these young musicians became a music teacher for a day and taught their parents what they have learned.
There was lots of fun in the POD last Friday, some learners demonstrated their xylophone and note reading skills, others showed their parents how to record sound samples and loop them using the app Madpad. Our Clarineo players demonstrated their skills whilst the Dood players challenged parents to create a sound on the instruments. There were many family performances with the Year 6 learners forming family Chinese music ensembles, the Year 5 children playing a Rondo piece with their parents and the Year 3 learners teaching their parents how to play chords on the Ukulele.
The music rooms were buzzing with great music from both learners and parents and we enjoyed inviting you in to share your child's learning, see what we do in the classroom and share wonderful music making.

HONEYKIDS ASIA, a popular blog for expat parents, has been hearing about our awesome music programme. They recently came to video some of our youngest learners, from Nursery and Kindergarten, engaging in fun music lessons! Learners participated in activities such as simple pitch exploration and songwriting, playing simple rhythms on various instruments, and of course singing! Videos will be published soon so stay tuned.
Are you a keen drummer? Ever wanted to play drums? Do you have lessons or do you just like making lots of noise and having lots of musical fun with others!?
Percussion ensemble is a free music ensemble for learners in Year 3 and above. It is after school each Friday from 3.30pm - 4.20pm in the music department. Led by our Aureus drum teacher Jane.
If you would like to come along and join in the fun, please contact Mrs Lambert. We look forward to welcoming you after the Lunar New Year.
