This week at Nexus we stopped to enjoy some activities that make us happy! On Monday afternoon learners were treated to a trip to the theatre with Years 1,2 and 3 getting a sneak peek of ‘Mary Poppins’. Year 5 and 6 were feeling equally artistic spending time with practitioners from Singapore Repertory Theatre who led them through drama workshops based on the book ‘The Boy With The Box’. Our Secondary School learners got to make some choices about their activities by signing up for things that interested them. The activities ranged from time in our fitness suite, to arts and crafts, mindfulness activities and trying out something completely new like Mandala Sand Art!
We were treated to a live interview in Reflection Time from our IBDP CAS learners who are leading on projects that are helping our community and beyond. JoyBox and Computer Refurbishing Club (CRC) are just two of the initiatives coming out of the CAS work at the school helping the wellbeing of migrant workers in Singapore. We also heard from our school counsellors, who shared some wellbeing tips with our learners.
Over the past few weeks learners and staff have been submitting ideas and tips as part of our ‘Tips From The Toilet’ campaign and these can now be seen in our toilet stalls when nature calls!
The week ended with a fabulous dress up where the learners and staff dressed up in what made them happy!
It was truly a wonderful week full of joy, gratitude and reflection.

Practitioners from SRT working with our Year 5&6 learners on drama exercises that explored ideas around emotions and wellbeing
Our live interview to find out how these CAS learners have been helping with wellbeing beyond the school by supporting migrant workers
The incredible wellbeing tips from our community can now be seen all over the school campus
It was great to see so many of our learners and staff dressing up in costumes, clothes and accessories that bring them joy!
It has been wonderful to have our first big production, Mary Poppins. I hope many of you got to see the production as restrictions eased to allow us to have our first large gathering. It was so good to be able to welcome you back on to campus.
The production really brought the community together; staff from all parts of the school have been supporting the learners by building props, designing backgrounds and sets, making costumes and just giving time to support the learners to practice.
It is this sense of community and dedication to children's learning and wellbeing that epitomises our Nexus spirit. Thank you!
