If your child is absent from school for any reason we require you to complete a Leave Application form - available on the Parent Portal, under Downloads
These forms are for us to understand the nature of learner absence. If the absence is unavoidable it is approved, however we do not authorise absence for holidays or family visits during term time.
Having said this, we do acknowledge that these are extraordinary times and many families have been unable to return to loved ones for some time, which is why we prepared a special resource pack for families that elect to travel.
We also understand that some learners may be prohibited from joining us on-site in school due to chronic medical conditions that dictate that they cannot safely mix with the general public. As such we created an Off Campus Learning (OCL) programme for such learners. The programme, administered by Steve Gallego, utilises special OCL Seesaw groups to provide daily activities to learners that are designed to achieve similar objectives to those that the learners on-site are covering.
Learners are able to submit work online, which is duly assessed and feedback is then provided via SeeSaw. From time to time, live lessons are organised according to need. If you think your child may need our resource pack or OCL, please advise Learner Services who will put you in contact with Steve Gallego.
Please check your child has either the latest version of the SafeEntry app or a working token to support SafeEntry check-in each morning.
A working token should have a light flashing every minute. If it does not, it needs to be manually scanned which slows down the entry process for your child and others. Tokens work for approximately 6 months before they need replacing.
New tokens can be obtained for free from community centres; you can find the nearest one with a vending machine here.
Please take the time over the break to ensure all tokens are working.
Due to the unprecedented number of learners being absent last week for the school photos, an extra photo shoot with a local photographer has been set up for Monday 11 April.
The photos taken on that day will allow those who missed out to be included in the yearbook.
Please note that these photos will be added onto the class pages of the yearbook (but they will not be photoshopped into the main class photos) and unfortunately they will not be available for purchase.
We enjoy celebrating children's birthdays at school and appreciate how Victus has supported this during Covid - providing a service delivering cupcakes as ordered. You can now bring in individual cakes (either store-bought or from home) which the teacher can distribute to the class. This could be individual cupcakes, for example, but not a cake which needs to be shared. Please liaise with the class teacher if you wish to celebrate birthdays in this way.
Families can still purchase cupcakes from Victus - our in-school catering team. These are made on-site following the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) standards and delivered directly to class. If you would like to consider this option, please contact the Victus team. Their details are on the Parent Zone of our website.
Please may we remind all families that at school learners are expected to wear masks at all times (except when involved in sports or eating/drinking).
We are noticing that a number of learners have masks that do not fit securely. This is particualrly true of the reuseable masks, where the elastic ear straps or the wire nose bridge become loose over time.
This weekend, please may you check your child's masks fit securely and remind them of the importance of wearing their masks properly at all times.
