ELL Teachers

at Horace Mann

Ms. Baseggio

Hi! I have been an ELL teacher at Horace Mann for over 15 years, but before that I taught Spanish as well. When I was a child, I moved with my family to Mexico City as a non-Spanish speaker. After a few years, I was completely bilingual and I still am to this day. Growing up bilingual was a gift that enriched my life, and it lead me to wanting to help other children become multilingual too. I graduated from Boston College with a B.A. in Spanish language and literature, and went on to pursue a M.A. in Second Language Acquisition and my teaching certification at UMASS Boston. I love meeting new kids and learning about their language and culture.

Ms. Kwan

Hello! I have been an ELL teacher in Newton Public Schools for almost ten years. I am so excited to be able to work with such caring staff, students, and families within the Horace Mann community. Born and raised in Boston, I grew up using a mix of English and Cantonese, or "Chinglish" as my family liked to call it. I received a B.S. from New York University in Communications and Psychology and after a few years in media marketing, I later earned a M.Ed. in Elementary Education and a M.Ed. in Special Education from Boston College. I love traveling, design & crafts, and working with your children!
