Support at Home
We frequently get asked by parents, "What can we do at home to help support my children with learning English?"
Great question! You play a key role in helping your children develop their English (even if you don't speak it yourself!).
- Continue to use your home language with your children.
- Literacy and vocabulary in home language helps with learning English.
- Encourage your children to read everyday.
- Reading and talking about books in English AND/OR your home language is great!
- Reassure your children that learning English TAKES TIME!
- The emotional well-being of ELLs can greatly affect their progress with English.
