Enjoy Your Summer!

We will miss seeing all of you during the summer and can't wait until we see you again next school year!

Don't forget to read everyday during the summer! You can also keep your skills sharp by doing some activities on this resource site: NPS ELL Learning at Home.

We Stand with You

We want all our amazing, diverse students and families to know that we stand with you during this time. We are here for you. We support you. Keep standing up for each other and spreading your love and kindness. Get inspired by the book Say Something by Peter Reynolds.

Patterns All Around Us

During this time at home, we have been able to notice things around us more carefully. Try to pay attention to details and see what you notice about different objects around you. How would you describe them?

Your Actions Can Lead to Great Effects

Let's think about cause and effect and ask:

What happened? (effect) Why did it happen? (cause)

Signal words:

  • If...then...

  • ...because...

  • ...so...

  • ...therefore...

Fairy Tales from Around the World

There are many stories from all over the world that are different versions of the fairy tales we know and love. Listen to these two read alouds that are like Cinderella stories set in Africa and in China.

Be a Word Collector

Collect words around you all week as we learn about different parts of speech in our meetings. What words have you found? We can't wait to hear your share!

Choose Kindness Everyday

Look through these slides and talk about the kindness questions with your family. Think about when you have shown kindness to someone. You can make the choice to choose kindness everyday.

Color Your World with Kindness

How can you spread kindness around you? How can you show empathy for others?

Are you a hero? Kid President thinks you are and you don't even know it yet!

Everyone can be a hero to someone by being kind and helpful, by sharing, or by writing someone a special note or drawing them a picture. How can you be a hero to someone this week?

Keeping Routines

Following routines and some sort of schedule can help children feel safe and calm during these uncertain times. Here is an example daily home schedule that can help give suggestions for you and your children throughout the day. (Spanish and Portuguese translations are below as well.)
