Resources for Teachers
Communicate Family Notices
There are a variety of templates to be used by teachers to help parents understand documents that are going home and to help communicate information about school meetings, health, field trips, etc. Staple the language reduced template to the original.
Languages available include: English, Chinese, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.
Interpretation and Translation
Parents of English learners are entitled to meaningful communication in a language they can understand through translated materials or a language interpreter.
An interpreter is a person who provides an oral translation between speakers who speak different languages. Interpreters can be arranged for parent conferences, school meetings, or any other information that needs to be communicated to parents in a language they understand.
A translator is someone who translates a written document from one language to another. The English Language Learner (ELL) Program office is able to translate documents that will be used by several families and by more than one school.
MA Curriculum Frameworks for Families
There are parent guides available that explain the MA learning standards for each grade level. Families can read and understand what their children are expected to learn and know by the end of each grade. They may be helpful resources to share and discuss with families during parent-teacher conferences.
Languages available include: English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Chinese.
