Singing

Auditions:

Thank you for your interest in singing in Freshman Cabaret 2022! For your audition, please prepare 30-60 seconds of a song, or a verse and a chorus. Pick a song that you feel shows off your skills. In auditions, we’ll do a quick warm up to start. There will be no instrumental accompaniment for your audition, but if you need a starting note, there will be a piano in the meeting. Remember to pick a song that you really love to sing, so we can see how you express yourself through music!

Callbacks:

The callback list will show you what songs you’ve been called back for. If you want, you can listen to those songs to get an idea of what you’ll be singing, but it is not necessary because we will be teaching portions of the song in callbacks. Then we’ll hear you sing what we’ve taught. Callbacks for a particular song don’t mean that you’ll be cast in that song, we just want to get a better idea of what songs would be best suited for you.

Rehearsals:

Here are some guidelines for rehearsals that are really important to us in order to create a fun and amazing show.

  • Come on time, and be present during the entire rehearsal. Please turn off phones during our rehearsals, unless using them to record your song and harmonies. Our rehearsals are short, and we want to use as much time as possible so that you can get really comfortable with your song.

  • Always be respectful to everything and everyone around you. A show can not function without respect and kindness, especially a show that depends on cast members working together like this one.

  • Make sure you’re ready for your rehearsals by practicing what we learn and bringing your sheet music and a pencil to each rehearsal, and a water bottle if you need one.

  • Have fun! Freshman Cabaret is a really unique and special show, and rehearsals are really a place to have fun. We are always here if you need us, so please don’t hesitate to reach out if you want to talk to us about anything.
