Internet

Our Internet Service Provider (ISP) is currently Cox Communications and they are providing us with a 1Gbps connection to the Internet. Though this sounds fast it is shared among all students and staff across all buildings in the district.

Internet Security

Firewalls

Security is very important for anything connected to the Internet. Our primary line of defense are a couple firewalls that secure the internal networks from the Internet. They also provides security for internal networks from BYOD and guest devices.

Filters

To comply with FCC rules, the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA), we are required to filter Internet traffic. A couple of content filters sit inline with traffic Internet-bound to filter out content according to CIPA.

If there is a site that is blocked that you feel shouldn't be you may request it to be unblocked here.

High-Availability

Although we only have one connection all devices between the Internet and the Wide Area Network have redundancy and automatic failover in the case that there is a failure. There are two firewalls, two filters, two access-layer switches and two core switches that are used to connect the Internet to the WAN. One of each may fail without anyone losing connection to the Internet.
