Rūri Windmill (ruler) offers you the opportunity to learn how to use the technical drawing tools to produce exact and accurate paraline representations of your final designs. In the industry, these drawings would be used by manufacturers and builders to create your designs in the physical world so it is vitally important they are both accurate and follow the drawing conventions.
As with previous skills, you will complete a range of mini projects and will be given feedback from your teacher on how you can make improvements.

Paraline drawings require a particular set of tools to be used in order to draw them correctly. You will need to ensure you have the following tools available:
T - Square
Set Square | Tāhāngai
2H Pencil | Pene Rākau
Eraser | ūkui
Ruler | Rūri
Compass | Tāporowhita
When starting a new drawing it is very important that you ensure your tools are cleaned or wiped down using the wipes in the classroom. This removes graphite and will stop the tools from leaving smudges on your paper. New sheets of paper can be found on the shelf at the front of the classroom.

For your assessment task you are challenged to use the drawing tools to create a Building Design (home, office, bach, work) of your own choice in Isometric. Concentrate on using the tools accurately and add as much detail as you can.
