Weekly Task Grid: Week 1
Mathematics Task: (To be completed and submitted after Webex)
Learning Intention:
I am learning to find the area.
Success Criteria:
I can:
Identify what area is
Use an array
Work out the area
Whole Class Explanation:
What is Area?
Area is the measurement of the amount of space inside a shape.
We can work out the area of an object in 2 ways:
1. Count all the squares inside a shape - Arrays
2. Use out multiplication facts to work out the area ( Area = length x width)
This week we have been looking at arrays for multiplication so today we are exploring how arrays and multiplication can help us calculate the area.
Task:
Using Google, type in Grid paper. Take a screenshot of the grid paper and insert it into PicCollage.
Use the online dice (Click here) to make two numbers and draw that array on the grid - You need to complete 4 arrays
Work out the area of all 4 arrays by counting the squares inside each array
Write your answer inside each array
Order the arrays by the area from each smallest to largest.
Use the example below to help you.
Task:
Using Google, type in Grid paper. Take a screenshot of the grid paper and insert it into PicCollage.
Use the online dice (Click here) to make two numbers and draw that array on the grid - You need to complete 8 arrays
Work out the area of all 8 arrays by counting the squares inside each array
Write the answer inside each array
Order the arrays by the area from each smallest to largest.
Extension: Try solving the area using multiplication by writing the equation (like the example). Remember Area = length x width.
Use the example below to help you.
English Task:
Learning Intention:
I am learning identify sentences
