Kris Robinson has devoted her professional life to Maternal and Child Health. As a midwife, nurse and public health specialist she has been a strong advocate for normal health, the recognition of midwifery in Canada and for reproductive rights of young women and girls Her work in this field began in the Canadian Arctic and has allowed her to travel to practice, conduct research and act as a consultant. Her career highlights include:
Graduate of the University of Saskatchewan – BSc. in Nursing and BA in Psychology
Midwife – Princess Ann Maternity Hospital, Southampton England and Mill Road Maternity Hospital, Cambridge England
Master of Science – Community Health, Faculty of Medicine, University of Manitoba
Founding Chairperson – College of Midwives of Manitoba
International Confederation of Midwives – Standing Committee on Regulations – North America Representative
Midwifery Practice Consultant – Winnipeg Birth Centre
Kris is a practicing midwife who has specialized in the area of adolescent pregnancy for 20 years. She has been instrumental in establishing midwifery regulation in Manitoba, establishing Winnipeg's first midwifery practice and regulation both nationally and internationally. Kris lives in Winnipeg but continues to travel the world. She enjoys spending time with her friends, her family at their cottage, gardening, practicing yoga, and nurturing her beloved family of pets.
