In December 2024, the communities of Roscoe and Livingston Manor approved the merging of their two school districts into the new Rockland Central School District. The district is primarily in the town of Rockland in Sullivan County and includes portions of the towns of Callicoon, Fremont, Neversink and Liberty in Sullivan County; Andes, Colchester and Hancock in Delaware County; and Hardenburgh in Ulster County.
Rockland serves approximately 600 students at its two schools. The Roscoe building serves as Rockland Elementary School (grades pre-kindergarten through 6) and the Livingston Manor building serves as Rockland Middle/High School (grades 7-12).
The district is planning to launch a comprehensive website. Until then, this site will provide updates on the new district.
Rockland Elementary School has reassessed the car pick-up line location based on observations and concerns. The school is making changes to prioritize student safety. Beginning Monday, Sept. 15, there will be a revised dismissal location for the car pick up line at Rockland Elementary.

The Rockland Central School Board of Education will have a special meeting at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, in the auditorium of the Rockland Middle/High School in Livingston Manor.

Rockland Central School District will celebrate the start of the new year, and a new district, with back to school events next week.
Rockland Elementary School will host its Back to School Night from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at the school at 6 Academy St. in Roscoe.
Rockland Middle/High School will host its Back to School Kick-Off from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at the school at 19 School St. in Livingston Manor.
The Rockland Wolves will host three events this week under the lights at the Rockland Middle/High School fields.
On Thursday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m. the Girls Varsity Soccer team will taking on Tri-Valley. The following day at 7 p.m. will be the annual girls Grade 7-12 Powder Puff Football game. The series will wrap on on Saturday at 7 p.m. with the Boys Varsity Football team taking on Onteora.
