The Rockland Central School District Board of Education is the official policy-making body of the school district. It is responsible for carrying out the laws and regulations pertaining to the education of students within the district. The board establishes district policy, reviews curriculum and programs of study, approves the hiring of all personnel, and establishes the conditions of employment. The board is also responsible for developing an annual budget for public approval.
The Rockland Board of Education is composed of seven school district residents elected by voters. Each board member is elected to a three-year term. Board members are not financially compensated.
Unless otherwise noted, all meetings start at 6:30 p.m. in the Rockland Middle/High School old gym, at 19 School St., Livingston Manor.

Meetings of the board of education are open to the public. The board welcomes public participation at board meetings and recognizes its responsibility to hear public comment during the “Public be Heard” portion of meetings.
There is a three-minute limit per speaker. Each speaker must identify him/herself for the official record
Specific personnel issues cannot be discussed in public. Please do not mention any employee by name.
The board does not respond to comments as they are made, but may direct the Superintendent to gather information for a response at a future meeting if appropriate.
