This course is about learning to write in the genres of po-etry and fiction through an examination of techniques, through experimentation, and through an inquisitive in-vestigation into your individual voices. You won’t be asked or expected to duplicate the “masters” of these genres, but will instead be asked to do a fair share of inventing writing, or “mastering” of the forms from your own unique perspectives, experiences, stories, and language.

Explore the deeper ideas presented in Poetry and Creative Writing, the development of expression with individual voice. This course will help you understand yourself as a write, develop a sense for where good writing originates, and challenge you to expand your vision, your subject matter, and mature your writers or artistic sensibility. This class will focus on the inventing, the doing, and the revising of writing, not on being “done.”
