Hey scholars! This has been a wild few weeks, but we will be continuing our artmaking at home. When we left off, we were just starting to develop a series of images. We are now going to attempt to continue at home. You can choose to draw or paint whatever you like for this series, as long as it is appropriate (Keep it PG) and original (no fan art this time, no tracing, sorry!).
You can work with any art supply you feel comfortable with. I recommend sketching lightly in pencil before committing to a final image.
Not sure what to do? For example, this series of images could be:
Sequential Art: A series of images that tell a story and/or a Comic, 2-3 pages
A series of Character Designs around a specific concept, 3 characters
An Illustration of Events (History/Current, News must include Article, 3 images)
A series of drawings (Any subject, 3 Full Page Drawings)
Draw a daily journal entry, making images that show what your day was like/how you were feeling.
A successful series has:
A clear, connecting idea that is easy to identify in each image.
Clearly defined: Foreground(Point of View), Middle Ground(subject), and Background
Research! Practice! If a characters outfit doesn't look how you'd like, research, find images to draw from. Artist's call this Reference. Without it, you're likely to leave out a lot of valuable details.
If you don't like your first drawing, draw a quick 5-minute study. These are quick practice drawings. Grab your sketchbook! Use the back of a page or the corner of a page you don't like, anywhere you won't mind making some mistakes. (Art Tip/Pushups: Draw with a pen so you can't fix the mistakes easily and are forced to make another drawing if it looks wrong. We can waste a lot of time on self doubt and erasing.
We will be working on this for 2 WEEKS!
As we've been away for a while and many of you may have forgotten what you chose about a month ago, we will have a fresh start! During this week, send me an email at mrraydraws@gmail.com with your name, grade, and the topic you've picked.
Reach out if you have questions! Email me, we will talk about your project. Stay Safe!
