Week of 6.22.20
Thank you Aszaviyo for bringing our NCS community so much joy each and every week. We appreciate you!
Dear Neighborhood Charter School Families,
We hope that you and your family are doing well. On behalf of the entire NCSH team, we would like to thank you for your partnership and collaboration during the last two months of remote learning. We know remote learning has been a learning experience for all of us and truly value and appreciate your collaboration and feedback in ensuring instruction and learning goes uninterrupted during this state of pandemic. Although our school building is closed, NCSH remains open and we will continue to work hard providing our scholars with a rigorous instruction, social support, and enrichment.
To learn about using this remote learning platform, please watch the videos at the bottom of the homepage where our Bronx Dean of Students, Ms. Romina Cepeda, will guide you through the process of accessing and using this website. We have provided videos both in English and Spanish.
Please see below for some key information regarding using the platform to ensure that you and your scholar can access assignments and resources:
For elementary school (Grades K-4), teachers will post assignments every Friday for the following week. For example, on Friday, May 15th at 5:00PM, teachers will post lessons and assignments for the week of May 18th. Parents and scholars should check the remote learning platform every Sunday/Monday so you and your family may plan accordingly for the week.
For Middle School (Grades 5-8), all teachers will submit the assignments with corresponding links for the week to our Middle School Link Up. These assignments will also be sent directly to your scholar’s school email address by 4pm Sunday evening. Parents and scholars should check our Middle School webpage as well as their scholar’s email weekly to ensure that they have access to all of their assignments for each subject.
If you have any questions, your first point of contact is to reach out to your child’s teachers. You can access contact information in the classroom pages section for grades K-4 and here for Middle School.
NCS is continually building out our resources and support. You can find resources on speech services, counseling, culture, sample schedules, and more on the remote learning platform. We encourage you to orient yourself to all the resources provided as we work to support our entire community of scholars.
If you have technical issues with a device that was provided by Neighborhood Charter Schools, please email familytechhelp@ncschools.org
Thank you to the NCS community for your patience and flexibility. We hope you and your families stay safe and healthy during this time period.
Best Regards,
Michael Renda: K-4 NCS: Harlem Principal
Ariel Ortiz: 5-8 NCS: Harlem Principal
Nicholas Carton: NCS: Bronx Principal
