Non-fiction Thesis Essay

Research Paper - This task is typically assigned as an op-ed piece which takes a position on a current issue related to the themes and reading of the course. In the junior year, assessment of the research essay determines whether or not a student meets the graduation standard for graduation. This complex task is based on the same skills as the thesis essay, but also involves integrating appropriately cited evidence from multiple non-fiction texts to support an argument. Social Studies Essays - In this task, students write essays to synthesize their knowledge and apply their analytical skills. This can take various forms (compare/contrast, change over time, pro/con, etc.), or may be a more complex task incorporating several analytical elements.
