TRIP TO SOUTH AFRICA

A wonderful trip to South Africa is offered as an enrichment to the study of Cry, the

Beloved Country by Alan Paton, which is read in 10th grade English. On this 11-day trip,

students will visit Nelson Mandela’s old home in Johannesburg, visit the Apartheid

Museum and Soweto. From there, students will travel north to Kruger National Park for two days of Safari and to visit a local school. They then will fly south to Cape Town and visit Robbens Island, where Nelson Mandela and other pro-democracy activists were imprisoned.

The trip is open to all students in grades 10-12, and is sponsored by the English

Department in collaboration with EF Tours. This trip takes place every few years. Students are expected to make up any work they miss.
