ACCESS Math 1

ACCMATH1

Access Math 1 is a general math course that draws on key concepts from Algebra 1, Geometry and Advanced Algebra. Students will continue their study of math topics with an emphasis on mastery of key algebra skills and concepts such as solving equations and inequalities, solving systems of equations, graphing linear and quadratic equations, and applying basic fundamentals of trigonometry. Students will continue their study with operations on polynomials and factoring. There are no prerequisites for this course.

ACCESS Math 2

By building on prior knowledge of math concepts from other courses, Access Math 2 will take you step-by-step through strategies to help you learn the time value of money, how to evaluate the best cell phone contract, how to build a business plan by knowing costs, profits, and break-even points. Applications-based practice problems use real-life scenarios to connect algebra to what’s going on in your life. Students will review and use prior math skills while learning about investing, banking, credit, income taxes, insurance, and household budgeting. Students may also be introduced to piecewise functions, regression, limits, exponential functions, and linear/ quadratic systems. There are no prerequisites for this course.

ACCESS MCAS Math

ACCMCASMATH

This class is designed for students with existing and emerging needs for MCAS remediation. All students who did not reach proficiency on their 8th grade and/or 10th grade MCAS and other students who are identified by the Math department during their freshman year will be enrolled in this course. MCAS Prep provides more personalized instruction spanning topics in the Massachusetts Common Core to bolster confidence and competence going into MCAS.
