On October 4th, Natick High’s freshman and sophomore classes had their first ever Homecoming. For many years, giving Natick High a homecoming was a selling point in class elections. The officers of ‘28 were the first to deliver on that promise. They met and worked over the summer to make this long awaited event a reality.
About the Officers
President Maxwell McDonald’s biggest passion is varsity wrestling. He also plays tuba in the band. Vice President Aarush Patankar loves Boston sports teams and plays basketball for the school. He and McDonald are also active community volunteers.
Treasurer Claire McDonough is a three sport athlete: midfielder in field hockey, forward in ice hockey, and pitcher/outfielder in softball. Secretary Angelo Macchiano loves being a midfielder in varsity lacrosse. He also wrestles for the school with McDonald. In his free time, he’s an avid fisher and golfer.

Planning
Homecoming “pretty much seemed like a no-brainer,” says McDonald. He wanted the freshmen and sophomores to have an event to look forward to, like the juniors and seniors do, and hopes that this year’s Homecoming will set a standard for the years to come.
However, the path to organizing Homecoming was far from straightforward. According to the class officers, there was a big time crunch when planning. The original date they had in mind was October 25, but they needed to move it up by almost a month for it to work. Their budget was capped at $700, which was raised at Natick Days, last year’s freshmen dance, and other various fundraisers and bake sales.
Despite the challenge, the class officers put together an amazing night of dancing and fun. With the theme of Natick Pride and a DJ playing plenty of throwbacks such as “Party in the U.S.A.,” it was a night to remember.

What's Next?
In the future, the class officers want to see developments like Homecoming King and Queen, alumni visits, and maybe even a school-wide Homecoming. Upcoming plans for sophomore class events include a cornhole tournament and more bake sales. We hope freshmen and sophomores had fun attending our school’s first of many Homecomings!
