How to Draw – December Edition features tutorials for a penguin, teddy bear, and arctic fox. You will need paper, pencil, an eraser, and coloring materials (colored pencils, markers, etc).
Penguin
1. Draw an oval. Ensure the oval is on its side and flat on the bottom, like a potato. Make sure you draw it higher up on the paper because this is going to be the head. Also ensure the right side is slightly lower on the page than the left.
2. Draw a larger oval. Start from the lower right of your head oval and draw curved straight down. Once you reach a reasonable distance from the head repeat this step on the left side to the same distance as the right side. Then connect both sides with a straight line.
3. Draw in the flippers, eyes, and beak. For the flippers, draw ovals extending from the body and on the tip of the ovals draw triangles. This is where the eraser is important, you want to erase any lines on the inside and only keep the outside shape.
For the face, the beak is another small oval draw facing more towards the right. The first eye is placed right above the beak and the second is more to the left.
4. Draw the feet. There is no defined direction for this! Mainly extending off the body and ensuring the flippers point outwards on both sides.
5. Draw the markings. Start on one edge of the beak to the left and draw a half heart-like shape. Do the same on the right.
6. Draw two lines straight down and curved on the body similarly to how it was done in step two. Then draw in a little scribble to be some feathers.
Color however you want and you're done!
Teddy Bear
1. Draw an oval. This will be the head so make sure it is small. Make sure it is lower on the page towards the left and higher on the page towards the right.
2. Draw a circle to be the body. The top of the circle should overlap with the head. Then you can erase the areas of the circle inside the head to achieve this shape.
3. Draw the face. Draw a small oval inside of the head and two black circles above the small oval as the eyes.
4. Draw two circles on the top of the head for the ears.
5. Draw an upside down triangle on the nose and draw a line coming straight down to finish the face.
6. Draw the arms. Start from the left side and draw a half oval and then repeat on the right side.
7. Draw the legs. Draw two ovals one on the left and one on the right far away from the body. Then draw straight lines connecting the ovals to the body to create the legs.
8. Draw the belly by drawing an oval inside the body.
9. Color the drawing and add accessories!
Arctic Fox
1. Draw a circle, this will be the head.
2. Draw a triangle on the head to be the ear.
3. Draw a circle extending down from the head to be the neck fur.
4. Draw a triangle coming down from the neck fur circle in order to finish the fur.
5. Extend outwards from the top of the circle part of the neck fur and draw an oval connecting to the top of the upside down triangle area. This is the body.
6. Draw in the legs by starting on the body and drawing straight down, then curve the end of the line and draw straight back up. Repeat this for all legs.
7. Draw the tail. This can be whatever shape you want!
8. Erase all extra lines and draw the face in.
9. Color and it is complete!
