Boston Red Sox Opening Day
By Sam Shuster, Editor-In-Chief
With the arrival of Spring and Warmer weather that can only mean one thing: baseball Season. The Boston Red Sox are looking to get back to a winning season after finishing 24-36 last in the American League East during a shortened season. Today we are going to go through what the opening day lineup will likely look like. Eduardo Rodriguez was originally supposed to start on the mound for the Sox but reports saying he had a “dead arm” led to Nathan Eovaldi getting the nod. Christian Vazquez will likely start at catcher. He has been very reliable behind the plate and manager Alex Cora has been saying what good shape Vazquez has got himself in. The starting first base job is Bobby Dalbec’s. After hitting five home runs in spring training he has come away as the clear choice for the position. Second base will likely be Kike Hernandez. After the Red Sox signed him in free agency it is probable he will be the second basemen. Xander Bogaearts and Rafael Devers will be the shortstop and third baseman after their success as of late. The outfield will most likely be Alex Verdugo and Hunter Renfroe with a mix of Franchy Cordero and Marwin Gonzalez. The Designated Hitter will be who else than J.D. Martinez. In past years the Red Sox have really struggled when it is time to look at the bullpen. With additions such as Adam Ottavino and Hirokazu Sawamura, the relief pitchers are looking much better. Hopefully the Sox can win some games this season and make a push into October. Opening Day is this Thursday April 1st against the Baltimore Orioles at Fenway Park.
