SCHOOL ATTENDANCE = SCHOOL SUCCESS
An abundance of research shows that school attendance directly correlates with academic success. Chronic absenteeism and tardy rates are associated with poor student achievement in school as well as after graduation. Coming to school regularly and on time sets the stage for life long success!
If your student is struggling getting to school, please contact your school nurse or school counselor for help and support.
ABSENCE/LATE TO SCHOOL PROCEDURE:
Please call the KMS attendance line as soon as you know your student will be absent or tardy: 508-647-6651. The attendance line is available 24 hours/day and messages are received each weekday morning. If you have any questions about whether your student should come to school, please call your school nurse for advice.
If your student is absent for 5+ consecutive days of school, a note from their medical provider is required. This does not include for Covid-related absences.
REASONS TO KEEP YOUR CHILD HOME FROM SCHOOL:

Vomiting or diarrhea: Student may return to school once they are symptom free for 24 hours and have eaten regular food without stomach upset or other GI symptoms.
Undiagnosed rashes: Contact your medical provider for an evaluation before sending student to school.
Severe colds and coughs: If your student cannot control/contain their secretions then they should stay home from school. You should contact your medical provider for any persistent cough/cold symptoms.
