Performance is an important part of students’ musical education. It is a chance for them to show what they have learned in class and provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate musical growth and talent. Every student enrolled in a music performance class is required to appear in all school public performances. If a student is unable to attend a concert or parade due to an illness or a family emergency, the music teacher must have a signed note or an email from the parents at least one day prior to the event.
If the illness or emergency occurs on the day of the concert, parents must call the school office and leave a message or email the teacher. Pre-planned absences must be approved by the teacher on a case-by-case basis. An alternate assignment for full credit will be given in the case of an excused absence. In the event of an unexcused absence from a performance, the student will have the opportunity to complete alternate assignments for partial credit.
